Martin has captained and played in county league teams in Cambridgeshire, where he was Chairman of the Stamford Squash Club for five years, and the Middlesex Summer and Winter leagues, and competes in England Squash Masters events.
Martin has been coaching squash since 2009, at various clubs and leisure centres in Central and West London.
Having been involved as a coach with the Spirit of Squash Foundation and Middlesex Junior Squash, he has considerable experience in coaching juniors, right from picking up a racket to competing in inter-county competitions.
Currently coaching at England Squash Level 3 (county level), Martin coaches at Finsbury Leisure Centre, where he runs a Saturday Ladies only session from 10.40 – 12pm and captains and coaches the men’s squash team, and at various leisure centres throughout London, which include Britannia in Hackney, Oasis in Holborn and the Queen Mother Centre in Victoria.
Having benefited over many years from coaching and guidance from many top coaches, Martin’s coaching style is focussed initially on technique, incorporating correct movement as soon as possible, before progressing to the fundamentals of the game itself, and then having established good technique and movement, onto the finer points of the various shots, tactics and game play.
